BioTech Futures
THE BIOTECH FUTURES STORY / EST. 2019

Curiosity about ingredients.
A business built around skincare.

Founded by Alaina Marlatt, BioTech Futures brings a cosmetic-chemistry and business background to a product category that deserves more than a headline.

Where science meets the everyday routine.

Alaina Marlatt was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and holds a degree in Cosmetic Chemistry and Business. Those two areas of study provide a natural starting point for BioTech Futures: an interest in what goes into a skincare product, alongside the work of building a business around it.

She founded BioTech Futures in 2019. The company’s focus is skin creams and skincare products, with a website designed to give people space to look beyond the front of the bottle. A product name may catch attention, but an ingredient list, the intended use and the manufacturer’s information help make the choice more concrete.

A fuller conversation about skincare.

The approach reflected here is straightforward: explain the product, identify where the information comes from and make room for questions. Different formats have different places in a routine. A cleanser is not an ampoule, a cream is not a sheet mask, and a familiar ingredient name does not make every formula identical.

BioTech Futures’ product pages are organized around those distinctions. They bring together the product format, published ingredients and an explanation of what to check before choosing. Where a manufacturer has not published a usable ingredient list, the gap is identified rather than filled with a guess.

The people behind the business.

Alaina’s spouse, Ryan Berthelot, is a biomedical engineer originally from Perth, Ontario. He is listed in BioTech Futures’ Engineering team as Biomedical Engineer. His background and Alaina’s cosmetic-chemistry and business education are different disciplines, and each is described here in its own right.

The wider team spans the departments listed on our Team page, including research and development, engineering, quality-related functions, administration and business support. Explore those categories to see the people and roles provided by the company.

Clear about the brand behind the product.

BioTech Futures and Rejuran are separate businesses. Rejuran is a PharmaResearch brand; its ingredient technology and manufacturing history belong to that manufacturer. Our Rejuran guide explains the published brand information without presenting it as an invention or manufacturing process created by BioTech Futures.

That distinction matters. Learning about a product should make its origins easier to understand, not blur the relationship between a skincare business, a brand and the laboratory work behind an ingredient.
